No medical examinations are required for you to build your life or funeral cover, all policyholders will have the same waiting period.
We only ask two medical questions to ensure that we remain fair to all our clients and that your claims are covered, this is applicable to the Life and Live secure income benefit.
Life products: The waiting period will vary between 3 - 6 months for natural causes depending on different products. There is no waiting period in the event of accidental death provided the first premium on the cover is received.
Short term products: The waiting period will vary from 3 - 12 months depending on various benefits.
Yes, you have a cooling off period of 31 days, provided that there’s no claim.
The policy becomes active on the date of commencement reflected on your policy schedule and subject to your premium being received.
The person you have nominated to receive the pay-out in the event of your death.
Yes, as the owner of the policy you can change the nominated beneficiaries at any point during the term of the contract before a claim is submitted.
You can reduce your cover amount, which will automatically reduce your monthly premium. If your circumstances change, you can always buy more cover subject to the terms and conditions.
If you do not pay your premium, the policy will lapse within 31 – 60 days, this is dependent on the cover you have chosen. No claim will be honoured after your policy has lapsed.
Yes, you can, you will have 45 – 60 days to reinstate your policy after it has lapsed (up to 30 days grace period and within 45 - 60 days for reinstatement). You will be required to pay your policy arrears to keep it up to date, this is dependent on the policy you have chosen.
Yes, you can amend the premium on your policy this will however affect the cover amount on your policy. This is subject to product policy terms and conditions.
The cover will stop if there is a claim for the principal member. The cover on your policy will also stop if you give us notice to cancel the policy or when you stop paying your monthly premiums.

The insurers are licensed in terms of the insurance Act and are authorised Financial services providers, governed and regulated by the prudential and financial conduct authority. This ensures that all products offered to the market can always be honoured in terms of the contracts Workerslife has with their clients.

Submission Process and documents required:
- A completed Workerslife claim form
- Certified copy of the identity document (ID) of the Policyholder
- Certified copy of the ID of the claimant (if the Claimant is not the Policyholder)
- Certified copy of the ID of the deceased Life Assured for who a claim is submitted
- Certified copy of the death certificate of the deceased Life Assured
- Copy of the fully completed BI1663 form used by the Department of Home Affairs for death registration purposes
- Confirmation of Banking details of the claimant
- Completed Police Declaration in the case of an Accidental Death.
- In the case of a stillborn claim, a letter from the attending medical practitioner confirming the term of pregnancy.
- In the case of a fulltime student below 26 but above 21 years of age, a letter from a recognised Educational Institution confirming registration.
Depending on the nature of the claim, consultants may request additional documents to properly assess the claim.
All claims submitted with the correct required documents will be processed efficiently and paid out within 48 hours.
